I see Maidstone have missed 2 matches out of the first 5 already.

I would like to remind all of the Outer Kent teams of the way Maidstone won the summer league. Nick Peel took the time to claim all of the last 40 points available from Mote and Rodmersham, without trying to re arrange the games, also taking the time to add into the league tables 9:0 9:0 9:0 scores in all sections. I am not 100% sure about the Mote result entered, but Rodmersham left messages with the club, emails and also on NP's mobile but had no response back. We found out they would not re arrange when we saw the league table. Nice...

Maidstone also asked Rodmersham if they could re arrange their upcoming match with us too. We obviously were a little reluctant and have told them it's the arranged night or we claim the points.

My question is, should any matches be re arranged. I guess Maidstone believe they should if it's them that needs to, but what about everyone else?

Surely if you can't get a regular team, then don't enter.

You're assuming Maidstone cancelled these fixtures!

I think your find it's the other way round.
It is assumption about these recent missed games I know, but the real question is should any matches be re arranged just because a player is not available.

Penalty points against would soon bring out the reserves and matches would all be played on time.

It's back to the old rules again. They need tightening...

I didn't realise that the forum was written as fiction rather then facts. I am sure you at least believe it makes good reading !
If you feel so strongly I suggest you formally write to the Outer Kent Comittee.

The forum is for putting points across, and Maidstone are fresh in my mind with claimed matches and then 2 or 3 missed this season.

I don't know the reasons but really what needs to happen is that the rules should be tightened and no matches should be put off or cancelled. There should be no double headers either. It doesn't matter which team cancelled, it should be played on time with whichever five players are available.

One would think that by having a KS&R forum that it would be promoted by the Committee and its members/ custodians. A forum is for discussing ideas in the open and should be something that is encouraged.
Tom’s idea is sound – there should be no rearranged fixtures or cancellations but for exceptional circumstances. Exceptional doesn’t include - 2 or 3 players are involved in other matches elsewhere on the same night, or a shortage of players due to injury.
What it may include are 3 or more players down with flu, dangerous travelling conditions, or a major incident/ accident preventing travel.
The Kent League Secretary should be invited to adjudicate on each instance with both teams retaining a right of appeal to the Committee.
As this is the Official KS&R forum, it should really be compulsory reading for the active committee members. If someone has a good idea it should be picked up on, if it’s not a good idea then say why it isn’t.
Why the need to formally write to the committee?
It’s too easy just to make negative statements and take no action. Players want to see Kent Squash go forward and improve not hang around in the past.
Priory has rules to cover these scenarios they simply need introducing into the South East Kent Rules.
I've had 3 calls today asking if i'd read the forum and the rubbish written by Tom Woods. At that point I hadn't.
I hardly ever read the forum anymore as people like Tom have totally killed off the interest and banter that was shared by many.
Tom; You say the forum is for putting points across and maybe it is but you don't seem to able to achieve this without adding offence and quite frankly in Maidstones case, lies.
I have only played for Maidstone for two years so I can't speak for events before then but in that time we have never looked to re arrange or cancel fixtures,we just want to play squash!!
If you feel this sight is some sort of soap box to slag off who you see fit just to make a point then feel free to carry on but take a little time to have a look back on the recent topics and you will see very little participation apart from a battle hardened few.
There was a time not so long ago before your divine intervention that people were logging on literally in the hundreds especially Wed' am to check out results and to rib anyone who may have had a bad night but it was good honest fun and it was taken that way by those under the hammer. What a shame that people like you have moved this forum away from the banter it was always intended for.
I'm sure you will have something to say about this post but don't expect a reply as I won't be bothering to read it.

P.S. Don't worry about your misguided comments about Maidstone,we will be happy to put you straight when we next play you.
4B If subsequently, a team wishes to alter a fixture date owing to unavailability of players or other problems it may do so with the agreement of the opposition. If a tie is to be rearranged, the new date must be notified to the appropriate Results Secretary within 7 days of the original date or the side requesting the rearrangement will concede the tie. If due notice is given (minimum one week), it is hoped the opposition will agree to a new date.

If agreement is not reached, the fixture must go ahead or the team concedes. In the event of a conceded fixture, the points will be awarded 20 - 0. If a team concedes within one week of the fixture date, they will incur a further penalty of five points, and if with less than 48 hours notice of the tie a penalty of 20 points. The appropriate Results Secretary must be informed of any change in fixture date and unless a conceding team notifies him/her 7 days before the fixture, they will incur the penalty 5 points. A team conceding 2 match walkovers or turning up with 4 or less players on 2 or more occasions may be liable to expulsion from the league for the next season. If a Club’s team withdraws from the league, subsequent to the fixture meeting, then all its teams may be liable to expulsion for the following season.

4C In the event that teams wish to play double-header fixtures, they must have written ( email is acceptable) approval from the Results secretary or League secretary at least 1 week before the fixture is due to take place. Failure to have approval will nullify the double header.

GREAT IDEA TOM - US LITTLE CLUBS CAN PLAY OUR HOME GAMES AGAINST THE BIGGER CLUBS ON TUESDAY, AS YOU SAID YOU HAVE THE RESERVES..
Although slightly around the houses and using Maidstone as an example for the reasons I have already put (missed matches in the results table, and it doesn't matter who's cancelled, also claiming points to win the summer league - again the winning of the league is not my point, just that it was able to happen.

My point is that when logging on to see the results myself (Outer Kent) I find it frustrating to see that some of the teams are obviously not playing matches on time for one reason or another, most of the time like Phill says due to the club not being able to get their preferred 5 out, not a real reason like illness, accident etc etc.

Sorry to have upset Ray or any of the other Maidstone players, I am not saying they are to blame for the lack of results, but that if the rules were like the Priory rules then this would not be happening. Straight down the line ruling of no re arrangements and everyone knows where they stand.

Len, if it was the fact that all the Outer Kent matches were on Tuesday nights then we would have a very different Outer Kent first team thats for sure, but so would Waterfront, Maidstone, Canterbury, and Blacklion I believe, so having a set night where everyone knows it's Priory match night actually helps keep the Outer Kent league strong. It's working both ways for Waterley or is it Bexfront? It just depends which night it is for them.

One final thing is - at least there is a bit of a discussion going on again on here, it's been dead for ages, and can someone tell Ray firstly it's not personal, and secondly the lack of interest in the forum is not down to me at all. Look who started this discussion.

I believe the forum needs more opinions, without them there is nothing to discuss.
With all the activity going on regarding this subject it seems not everybody is a happy bunny! I feel if teams change their nights to a Tuesday, especially in division 1, you would only have Hythe playing Biddenden every week.
From previous comments their has been a number of rule changes within the Priory league to take on board the changes happening within squash. With more priory players interchanging to also play in Outer Kent it may be that some changes are required to the OK rules to bring them in line. The only way that rules can be changed is by nominating new ones and voting them in at the AGM. With this being a number of months away it may be useful to start up another thread where members put forward their ideas for any rule changes they feel would be an improvement / beneficial to the Outer Kent league, the committee could then review these, see which ones would benefit the league as a whole, draw up a short list then make them available to vote for at the next AGM.
This is a personal view, does anyone else have any views on this?
If anyone see's Ray Bushell over the next couple of days can they just let him know that when he shook the hands of all the other Rodmersham players last night upon leaving, he seemed to overlook his opponent, or offer any thanks for the food I cooked which he had two helpings of, and although leaning over me to reach the other players for some reason couldn't find it within himself to offer a "well played", a hand shake or even acknowledge me at all.

Nice one Ray, lets hope we get to play again on the return.
