Just not sure on the order of merit rule thats been added, and why it's obviously not being followed even by Len Locke who runs the league.

I have just seen Mo Soliman played 3 for Blacklion in division 2 and won easily, the same Mo Soliman who played for 2 teams in the summer on 5 occasions, and also the same Mo Soliman who took a game off Steve London and narrowly missed taking it to 5, playing number 2 for Fitness Firsts Priory team.

Come on Len if you are not playing by the rules and you run the Outer Kent League then what hope is there for any other teams to play fair.

See the rule below

7 TEAM ORDER

Teams are required to play in order of merit. Captains should arrive at a fixture with their playing order written down to exchange with the opposition Captain. Any team knowingly arriving at a fixture with four players will be deemed to be without their number 5 etc. This match will be scored 3 - -1 If a player does not arrive by the end of the fourth tie, his tie and all below his position will be awarded to the opposition at a score of 3 - 0. In the event of three players only turning up this match will be scored 3 - -2.

Note: If due to mis-registration or improvement / loss of ability or form of players the team’s order of merit is not correct. Then it may be changed to achieve the correct order of merit. However to achieve this players may not change place by more than one position (relative to the same players) in any two consecutive matches. Should two players have very similar ability a decision on their relative order of merit should be made and then adhered to for a reasonable time (i.e. for several matches). The temporary indisposition of a player does not justify that player being played out of position.

maybe Mo is nominated in different positions for different teams? I know a few people that are nominated lower in and ok team and higher in priory, like me but other way round!

who knows !!
Yeah, I understand that you had to do something at Canterbury as Tom May left you guys a little late in the day and with two teams in the same division it's difficult, but that doesn't apply here at all.

Order of merit should be exactly that, you play in order with your best at 1 and worst at 5 in the team. Mo has been a better player than the guys above him for years, and is now playing better than he has for years too, so I don't understand why he would be nominated in a lower position or play there either.

If it is OK to falsely nominate players out of position then what is the point of the order of merit section of the league rules.
yea true, no idea whats going on then!
To put the record straight - Mo had not played in the winter season, this was his first game, he had just come back from a holiday in Egypt, he had not played for over three weeks, the last time I saw him play was on one of our club nights some 3 1/2 weeks ago, when he pulled up with a pulled ham-string. The players above him were both fit and I felt that rather than risk Mo's ham string, and being out for 6-8 weeks, providing he warmed up and kept his cycling shorts on he might come through ok. I couldn't less about the result, I was only concerned that he could walk off the court without any injury.
Regarding playing to order, i notice that Neil is above John, & Martin is above Tom, and Mark the floater can only make five behind Gary !!
Len, the rules allow movement of one place, John is not playing at the moment and Neil is playing a lot and very well.

Moving John to 2 actually weakens us a little at 1, so of no benefit at all as either John or Neil would win at 2 without any question.

Martin and me are 50/50 which is why he plays above me in the Outer Kent and me above him in the Priory, and we are planning to swap both around at half way unless either of us are regularly beating the other.

Other than that we are within the rules and in order of nomination. As far as the rules state I don't think Mo can drop 2 places can he? Surely he is nominated at 1 for that team.

I honestly don't mind what happens in the Blacklion teams or where Mo plays. It just looks very odd seeing such a good player playing so far out of position in a lower division. Perhaps if he was injured he should not have played at all, as his racket ability at that level must more than make up for him being a little imobile.

That is why I asked the question about order of merit, not to have a go at Mo or you or the Blacklion.

I honestly think the rules need to be tightened up on all players being in their correct position and staying there and I thought that was what the order of merit rules should do, but it is obviously not being enforced.
I suppose that the question is have the teams broken Rule 7, if they have then they should take the appropriate punishment if not then everyone can have a clear conscience.
I know that 2 or 3 years ago, Mote completed some of their results online using nicknames as many of the Priory teams were doing at the time, we had points deducted even though we expressed why we had done it that way and could supply the league with the players names. The same season we even lost the points for an away win because the opposition didn't send in a results card, we thought this was particularly draconian.

We did the crime and took the punishment, just hope that these incidents are looked at with a similar perspective.

The same rules should apply to all and as Tom has said elsewhere we could do with aligning some of our rules with Priory to fill in some of the gaps.
