Well the online vote appears to be corrupt. Apparently you can vote more than once if you log in and out.

To get a clear result on this it would help if those who wish to vote for one of the systems could simply post to this thread stating their preference of PAR or HiHo.

Please do not vote under a pseudonym, let's keep it fair and square.

I'll start it off by stating my preference.

PAR

I think it would be better to ask the team captains to canvass their squads and feed the results back via this website or via ML as any vote made by just the members of this site will be inconclusive.

My vote would be for PAR to be used in the summer with div 1 playing PAR 11 and all other divisions playing PAR 15. Continue with HiHo in the winter and review things at each AGM to see if this should be continued. I think that would be a nice compromise as it would enable everyone to get some of what they want as there seems to be a significant split of opinion on which scoring method should be adopted.
Hi,
I did suggest in an earlier posting that the Div 1 captains could run a survey on match nights and post the vote alongside the match result. One interesting aspect of doing this would have been to see on a week by week basis if the players opinions changed the more that they played the system.
The one drawback of course is that most of the captains probably 'couldn't be arsed' to do it.
If people vote here then at least we'll get a view of the general opinion.

Results in so far
HiHo = 0
PAR = 2

There's nothing corrupt about the vote Phil don't be so paranoid. It shows what people are genuinely thinking - that they just don't like PAR scoring

Time to accept?

Oh and by the way last night's matach was a stonking 22 minutes. Take nothing away from my oponent - just take away this scoring..
Mark, (Glad you had another easy game last night!). Phil is quite right it is easy to vote more than once so the system can be corrupted, in fact if you look at the amount of votes since this issue was noted you will se that it is possible to 'rig' the vote. Sensibly it needs all the captains to go to the AGM to submit the vote from the club they are representing then, and only then, will you get a true reflection of what the real requirement is. I think the only way to deal with this in the interim period between the end of the summer league and the next AGM (ie Winter season) is for the Priory committee to issue a voting format, per TEAM to vote on their preferences, similar to the options on the web site, what do you think? Any other comments?

Hi Mark,
this was brought to my attention by Mark Steedman (on this site) and someone else at a match. Not something that I've tried to conjure up.
I only want to see a fair representation, whatever the result.
Currently (possibly) 151 of 168 people have voted (a very high turnout don't you think compared to those that actually get involved in debating the issues)
Of those only 60 have voted to keep HiHo
That means 91 have either voted for PAR or aren't fussed.

Time to accept?

PAR 2
HiHo 1

p.s. Why don't you give that 'old bloke' who's playing in front of you a sound thrashing and get yourself reregistered in front of him. ;>)

Well you probably knew I wouldn't be able to resist biting at this one Phill, but ML requested that he play below the old bloke as he hadn't played much at the time. Normal service will be resumed soon ...

By the way, who is this Mark "Steedman"? Someone new?

I think your conclusion should read:

Some other form of scoring (or not fussed) 2
Hi ho 1

Time to reject ...

Drew you into that one Clive ;>)
and, my apologies to Mr Steeden :>#

I make that

HiHo 2

Just another 164 to contribute to this thread
We now have a total of 170 votes and only 169 members???????????????????????????????
The vote IS flawed as there are apparently more votes than members and that should not be possible and you CAN vote more than once!

You cannot vote more than once from the same computer but you are permitted to vote a second time if you log on to the website via a different computer as I have done just that and I was able vote a second time!

I think the only way to get a true result is to canvass all the team captains or ask the clubs to canvass all their nominated players.

If you want each club to have an equal say in the outcome then convert the votes into percentages for each club and then simply add them up and divide by the number of clubs that have contributed to the vote.

If you do go for canvassing the clubs then I think you need to list out all the options and not follow the Tory/Lib Dem coalition method of just listing two of the possible 5 or 6 options.

The options as I see it would be as follows:

1. HiHo to 9 for all divisions
2. PAR to 11 for all divisions
3. PAR to 11 for division 1 and PAR to 15 for all other divisions
4. PAR to 15 for all divisions
5. Don't care

A secondary question could also be raised as follows:

1. Play HiHo in the winter and PAR in the summer
2. Don't care

Cheers

Ian
You don't have to be a member to vote Phil. We all know there are lots of website viewers who are not members.

Also, do you really think people are going to keep logging in and out, then on to another computer to corrupt the poll? It's not worth it is it?

Anyway, this vote was just meant to get a straw poll of what people are thinking - the official vote will (i'm sure) take place at the agm.

I think it is quite probable that some people may have voted twice via they home and office computers.
