Report

I have to say that it was a really good night for Priory League Squash.  Lots of people at Parklangley supporting their clubs, it is a pity there was no attendance from any of  the Kent SRA committee.  I would have thought it would be a good night for the new president to introduce the new chairman to the nuts and bolts of Kent squash.  Considering the clubs and number of players taking part this is the heart and soul of Kent Squash.  Having said that I only saw some of the matches but what I saw was all the players contributing 100% and they all represented their clubs to the utmost of their ability.  Running the Parklangley team I was obviously interested in their matches, but I also saw an excellent match between Ollie of Sundridge and Shaun from Bromley LT.  Shaun winning 3-2.  In the Parklangley match there was some pretty good squash played, the most amazing of which was Clive beating Will 3-0.  You would have put a lot of money on Will but he could not seem to handle Clive’s excellent squash.  The match that stuck out most was another London, this time Steve, who nearly achieved an amazing comeback to just lose 15/11 in the 5th.  General opinion was that this the best match of the night.  Steve just lost out to Neil’s steady play and experience.  Charles had another 5 setter with Peter, Peter doing some amazing retrieving at full stretch but unfortunately as most of us know age caught up with him again in the middle of the 5th.  Well done all the winners and losers.  The main loser of the evening was the Kent SRA because as I said at the start they missed some excellent squash.  Perhaps next year they will make an appearance at the finals.  The Priory Leagues and Priory Cups contribute a large part to the finances of the Kent SRA income.  So in my opinion some of the committee should have made an appearance on such a good night for squash.  Finally I would like to thank ParkLangley Club and staff for their excellent facilities and their help in running the event.

Isn't there a final play off at Mote on the 15th, surely this will be when the committee will be there to see the outer and priory finalists play?

Hi Tom

You are quite correct there is a match between the inner and outer Kent leagues on 15th May organised by Graham Appleby.  The whole point of the match report was to say there was 6 teams from North Kent which works out to 30 players plus supporters playing at one venue and it would have been a great opportunity for the new chairman and president to come and mix and meet some of the players from north Kent.  If you had been there and you know how big Parklangley is it was virtually  full up with players and supporters.  They all saw some excellent squash from all levels of the inner Kent Priory leagues.  Hope this explains the situation.

Hi,

shouldn't someone be listing the finals night in the events section?

It would probably make sense to list it on the 'Home Page' to notify anyone who's interested that there's a major event taking place.

You never know some players from Priory might even risk a nosebleed travelling to deeper and darker Kent to watch. ;>)

Hi Phil

I have no control over the listing of these events in the calendar as you know the strength of any club or county Is the strength of it' leagues.  Once again I would have thought that the people who compile the events would know because they are well documented. As for your 3rd comment I cannot think whilst peopel would want to travel to deep and dark Kent to watch Priory Squash when thee matches all take place in the NW part of the county.
