Taking a chance!
Ok, so the summer leagues are going to start soon.
Let's try PAR scoring for both Priory and Outer Kent leagues this year.
Division 1 up to 11 and the rest up to 15, still best of 5 obviously!
And then at the end of the summer we will be able to have a proper informed view about the whole PAR issue.
What damage could it do? Exactly - None !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know, we will play against you guys PAR and you can play the normal scoring against us, and see who wins... That sounds like a good idea...

PAR for the summer has been accepted.
All matches in div 1 to be PAR to 11
That only took 30 mins to sort out last night!

I'm in favour, why don't we just get on with it, every one is being far to anal about it, PAR scoring will get here eventually so why have we got to be the last.

It's here, the Priory Division 1 league is PAR 11. Which was lucky considering the time we got started against Dulwich last night!

How was your match though Tom?
Did you think the games were shorter than usual?
Obviously, reading the Mote/PL2 report they didn't enjoy it.
In my match against Tom I found that it was fine, with point a rally I went more defensive therefore increasing the length of the rally, the match lasted about an hour which was fine by me.
How about you Clive? how did you find it?

Not too bad as it happens. I think your analysis of games being between 1/2 and 2/3 the length is about right. It becomes a farce when it's more one sided. I dread to think what some of Malcolm Parker's games are going to be like. Imagine PAR 11 against him in the Winter if (God forbid) it continues. He has most people off in 20 mins with Hi Ho!!
The PL2 v Mote match sounds like a bit of a joke, and Ken was majorly ticked off about it.
Regardless of the arguments about it coming eventually I just fail to see why club players want shorter matches with almost zero chance of a comeback if one player gets a few points in front. We had games thrown when it got to 9-3ish on Tues. Just doesn't happen with Hi Ho. Gordon McManus's heroics in the O50s Inter County finals made it one of the best matches to participate in. How on earth would anyone contemplate coming back from 0-2 4-8 (or 4-10 as it would be)?

I cannot believe you are supporting this PAR. It takes the heart and soul out of the game, there is no substance left and to be quite truthful at priory level I consider it seriously retrograde step. It might be o.k. for juniors who play several matches in a weekend and it might be o.k. for professionals for the same reason but for Kent Priory NO WAY. As soon as you and other people realise that we can dump this ridiculous scoring system and get back to the proper game of squash at Priory level where most of the players come from. Our match against Mote lasted 1 hour 45 minutes in total and Mote was about the same strength as us so when come down to play Rodmersham we have 1 1/2 hour drive for very little squash. If you think that is the way forward then I really don't understand your point of view.

My game in particular went well to start with, and we were actually on court for 2 rallies longer in the first game than we would have been with the old scoring as I won it 11-1 from 1-0 down - which was nice - and lucky. The 2nd and 3rd games were much harder fought, but a few mistakes from my opponent helped me a little, but having said that they could have been on my serve anyway so would then make no difference.
Over the whole evening, I don't think there were any issues with the scoring at all, having said that I won 3:0 so maybe ask my opponent! A close match will be a close match whatever the system being used, the same as a one sided match will be one sided. We had 3 good close matches and a couple of shorter 3:0 wins, everyone worked hard for their results and yes it was over a little bit quicker possibly, but with an hour and a half traveling time surely that is only a good thing.
Overall I am a little bit on the fence with this one, as other than finishing earlier on the night I don't really see a benefit to the change. I am happy to play either, and at the end of the day whatever the system you just have to win more than your opponent does.
It could be worse we could have the 5 let rule!

Just for the record everybody I am a fan of normal scoring, always have been and always will be. If fact it pains me to say I agree with Ken !!!!!!
I was just getting bored of the same old discussion week in week out without proper facts and true emotions.
It now seems that we are getting the facts and some interesting emotions!
Personally I would be disappointed if any of the leagues (OK or Prioy) changed to PAR for the winter season but I didn't think it would hurt for a trial period in the summer.

Hi Duane
Nice to see you have come to your senses, perhaps you should have attended the meeting and voted in the correct way instead of sending someone else who voted for PAR. If he had voted against it would have been 3-3 draw and we would not be lumbered with this ridiclous situation. Before you make derisory comments just remember how far we go back.
p.s. Do you know who this Camilla is, who obviously talks a lot of sense. Is it you?????
