Promotion of squash of course would include getting a directory of clubs & courts listed on the front page of this website. And I don't mean just listing the courts that can be found on the England Squash site.

Oh yes we do, a few years back I was entering nicknames on the results website and the Mote lost all their points for a few matches. The League Sec wouldn't allow any later corrections even though I did point out that a…

Well there's at least me who has an interest but unfortunately can't participate at present. Well done the 55's and  unlucky the 45's. Good Luck in the next stage(s). And nice to see the posting. Well done Clive.

What about the distraction of a player falling over that puts you off playing your next shot?  There was a guy the old owner/manager of Rodmersham used to watch a certain player diving and he would always say it was a stroke away for…

Surely the stroke and let rules are there to keep the game fair and safe in between the hitting of the ball so no one gains any advantage. The only two elements that a player should be able to use over his opponent should be fitness and shot…

it's funny how there are no decent markers around, yet when we play there are always two experts on the court! The professionals have to make every attempt to play the ball these days as shown when watching squash on TV, running round players,…

Yes, but wasn't the point of the video to show that most of the decisions were wrong?  Look at this one too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=eIn0Ix063ZY   and it might be interesting to ask the views of messrs Garner and…

Tom Woods replied to Phill Crane's discussion 'A Casual Observation'
I think the distance between the player and the ball is key.  Two players with no space getting tangled up and a loose ball could end in a stroke, and I think a path from the front corner to the opposite rear to pick up a shot with contact on…

There's a difference between just getting your racket on the ball and getting in position and being ready to play. Take a look at the following on youtube and the ref's decisions, and then view the comments by…

Did anyone go to the marking course last year? I understood that if you could not go directly to the ball and you racquet was up and ready to play the shot then this is a stroke; or are you using the work 'let' as a generic term?

Tom Woods replied to Phill Crane's discussion 'A Casual Observation'
It's because of the markers lack of knowledge most of the time and the frustration that causes. Some people just accept it and play on, and others feel the rules have not been enforced correctly and want to know why, and want the marker to…

What makes me chuckle is that the people who bawl and shout most on court are the same people from the week before, and the week before that, and the week before that etc etc.......   ;)   Why is this?!

 13. LETSIn addition to lets allowed under other rules, the Referee may or shall allow lets in certain other cases. A player should request a let by saying "Let please". The Referee, if uncertain of the reason for an appeal, may ask the player for an explanation.13.1 The Referee may allow a let if:13.1.1 the ball in play touches any article lying on the floor (see Rule 15.3);13.1.2 the striker refrains from hitting the ball onto any of the walls including the back wall owing to a reasonable…See More

I don't normally bother with the forum these days as you end up taking more stick than it's worth (and know doubt will happen again this time !) However, fully agree with both points made by Tom and Phil. The reason I have stuck my two…

OVER 50'S RETAIN INTERCOUNTY TITLE

Hunts County Squash Club hosted the Men’s Over 60 and Over 50 Harris Inter County Finals weekend. A new venue for Harris Inter County Finals, this England Squash Gold Chartered club, who will also host the British Under 23 Championships 24-26 April, is close to the market town of St Ives in Cambridgeshire. It proved to be a very popular choice with great facilities and extremely hospitable staff and volunteers – the under floor heating system was also a hit on a cold January… Continue
