There was a packed house to watch the final which was the accumulation of 4 days of fantastic squash and Max and Stacey did not disappoint with a great match. Throughout, each player showed great skill and accuracy but inevitably it was the younger, fitter player who came out on top. After a tough first game, Max grew in confidence, and returned everything that Stacey could throw at him and closed out the match 3-0.
In the 3rd 4th playoff, Ben Ford overcame Obaid Jahan Khan 2-0 in a very entertaining match. The plate event was won by Lewis Ryall (Bromley CC) who beat Tom Woods (Rodmersham) 3-2 in a very competitive prelude to the final. The consolation plate was won by Ash Taleb (Black Lion) who beat Tony Gamble (Whetherspoons) 3-0
Now in its 4th year, It has been another successful Bexley Open, This year we had 54 entrants (the most ever) and the standard was stronger than ever before with no fewer than 12 world ranked players in the draw. It was encouraging to see local Kent players competing with some of the very best players in the world from Hong Kong, Japan and Australia to name but a few. We try to create a tournament which offers this opportunity and with the first two round losers going into a plate event it makes for a very entertaining weekend.
Many thanks to CLM Fireproofing, Diva Architectural metalwork, Strata Contracts Limited and Everards for their support of the event. Without their help, tournaments like these would never happen. Also special thanks to A-Z sports for the excellent tournament T Shirts.
