A Guide to Mentoring Sports Coaches

Mentoring is a powerful tool in the education and development of sports coaches at all levels.  This workshop will help you, as a mentor, to support coaches’ learning and focus on how learning occurs. It provides coaches with tools to record the relationships built through mentoring programmes. This workshop will help you to:

  • identify their role as a mentor
  • develop their mentoring profile
  • increase the effectiveness of their mentoring relationships by developing practical mentoring skills
  • design a mentoring programme that best suits the needs of their sport and the level of coaching.

Good to see some positive things coming from the recent AGM and having Joe in there should be a real boon. I viewed the mentionof a ‘new look coaching structure’ very optimistically with it stating “These sessions will also to be open to senior club players who are keen to progress to county squad standard.”

This is a very interesting prospect, does it mean that any age group would be welcome at county training events? Or will something will be done separately for the O45, O50, O55 and O60 groups?
